Charming And Historic Cape May, New Jersey



New Jersey has so much to offer - from scenic rivers, mountain peaks, shimmering reservoirs and swamplands, to maritime forests, sandy beaches and wondrous wildlife. Camp May is one of the best New Jersey beach camping locations. To appreciate the history of the area, visitors are encouraged to stop by the Greater Cape May Historical Society, which is located at the Colonial House Museum on Washington Street, right behind City Hall.

The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities offers guided walking tours along Washington Street, where many of the town's prettiest old houses are found. Located in Atlantic City, this is one of the oldest restaurants in the region, with its origin dating back to 1920s.

Strolling past the town's frilly facades, its porches and gables and scalloped siding, I would say that for now, there's plenty to keep us visitors coming, but with too much traffic and nondescript architecture, Cape May could become just another seaside resort—one more taffy stand on the crowded Jersey shore.

By the 19th century, Cape May was known as America's most sought after vacation destination, with the cool, ocean breezes providing visitors with some much-needed relief from the hot, stuffy climate of inner city living. If you like casinos, come to Atlantic City, the "Gambling Capital of the East Coast," home of the biggest concentration of casinos, hotel rooms, and gaming revenues outside of Las Vegas.

The bunker historically represents a moment in history, and stands as a monument to all those, who in times of war, have come to find ways to protect this country from enemy attack. visiting If you really want to get away from it all, the tiny Jersey Shore town of Barnegat Light might be just what you are looking for.

In 1878, a devastating fire that burned for five days destroyed much of Cape May's town center. Since Cape May has a lot of historical significance, you should be able to tour many of the historical attractions around town. Located on the Southern tip of New Jersey, the town has become a world renowned destination for beach-goers, history lovers and even bird watchers, who flock to the area every summer.
